The Thoughts
This September marks our two year anniversary of living in our RV full-time, and two and half years since beginning this blog! It is incredible how quickly time does pass when you’re having fun…despite disruption in plans due to a major health crisis.
Young, crazy kids acting on an awesome idea to live life on the road – Moving from Oregon June ’19 and picking up our new home on wheels Sept. ’19.
Over that time, Leah and I have learned a lot about being flexible, planning (A, B and C), teamwork, parenthood, dreaming, and producing. I’ve done my best in attempting to capture the sentiment and lessons learned in an authentic and entertaining way through prior posts. What I had hoped it to be of value to anyone with the time and patience to make it through prior articles. A penny for my thoughts? Well, that check hasn’t yet been delivered.
So…instead of giving up, Leah and I have listened closer to what our “calling within this calling” of living a counter-culture lifestyle could be. Taking what we’ve learned through the experiences we have been blessed with over the last two and half years, we are have narrowed down on our ability to do the hard stuff…with kids.
The bonds we have created with Faith and Fisher in the oh so impressionable years of their life have become unshakeable. This has not happened by chance – oh no, we have been very intentional in making the most of this experience with them. Seriously, it was at the very top of our list ever since we began the discussion of living “differently”. The successes we’ve had, as well as the mistakes we’ve made, in attempting to make every experience and excursion we go on enjoyable for the kids as well as ourselves has left us with plenty of fruit to share.
We want all families to experience the level of bonding with their kids we are currently enjoying. It is through this developed bond parents will be most effective and influential in developing the strong character we all desire for our children and next generations. They WILL NOT receive this through a screen!!! We so desperately need to change the course our young generations are on!
…So those are the thoughts. Send me a penny if you want, but I’m going to consider it a freebie!
The Tools
Leah and I have decided to follow through on our “calling within the calling” and begin producing tools for parents to utilize in making parenting an enjoyable privilege instead of a monotonous duty all the time. (Side note – they’re kids, you’re the parent and there are still duties that will gnaw on your nerves). This is the space from which Flip Fit, as well as some future products, is coming from.
Folks have enough thoughts of their own (with hardly enough time to pay attention to them while raising kids – you know what I mean). It is tools and actionable steps that are desired! By providing tools along with the thoughts, we might now be able to see a slow change take place!
…Now, the tools are worth a couple dollars!
What you can expect from us
We plan on continuing to blog with updates regarding our family’s traveling journey. They may just have more of a bent towards lessons or tips learned along the way in regards to nurturing our young ones. We will also be posting specific tips or encouraging intentional activities for parents through this blog. With a more focused intent, we plan on fulfilling the goal of 1-2 blog posts per week. Of course, you can always follow our shenanigan’s on social media.
It is a large world with an ever-growing population. In many ways, it is a very strange time to be living, indeed. I hope this slight shift in our blog will somehow help those struggling in today’s reactive culture become more proactive with their own most influential audience – their kids! It really can have a lasting impact!
Did you know the largest species tree in the world, the Giant Sequoia, has roots that can reach up to 2-4 acres with bark up to 2 feet thick? And it starts from a seed that is only 1/4 the size of an uncooked grain of rice! I plan on nurturing this seed, and you can help!
If you agree with the ideals presented here or within any of our other blog posts, please share it with those in this big world that can utilize what we bring to the table! You know a couple, I’m sure of it. Thank you!
Cheers
